Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle’s Project MISTER

Feb 1, 2011, 8:05 AM | Updated: Apr 4, 2011, 11:21 am

For many, social and economic barriers prevent decent housing and stable employment from being obtained. For more than 80 years the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (ULMS) has been working to combat these barriers.

ULMS offers education, housing and employment services to the Seattle community to provide people of color, low-income and working individuals and families with the resources to achieve economic and social parity. We offer tutoring and educational enrichment opportunities, financial education services and job search tools. We also assist small, minority, women-owned and economically disadvantaged enterprises to strengthen their competitiveness. To support these efforts, Bonneville Seattle and the Seattle Seahawks are proud to announce the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle as our February charity of the month.

One of our programs is Project MISTER (Male Involvement and Service to Encourage Responsibility), a program for at-risk high school students. This program pairs students with adult mentors who provide guidance and opportunities for success in the community.
