³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio host John Curley went out to eat at a restaurant with friends that he says “was obviously not a restaurant designed for people over 50.”

Two songs (one beautiful, one annoying) by Jacob Ryan Smith

“It was so incredibly loud in the restaurant,” John said. “The science of it, Shari, was the louder the music, the less likely you are to talk, and then you don’t talk so you just drink more. Have you seen this study?”

“I haven’t seen the study but I’ve been in restaurants like that where it’s nearly impossible to have any kind of social interaction,” Shari replied. “So you just kind of sit there and look at each other, and then drink a little bit more.”

John’s friend tried asking the waiter to turn the music down, but was told that couldn’t be done.

“At one point, all the waiters came running out of the kitchen with these gigantic sparklers on top of a tray and then they had drinks for everybody, like little shots of something, and every table got it,” John said.

“I turned to my friend and I said, ‘This is obvious that this is not for us — this is for the restaurant,'” he continued. “[They want people to] take video of this and then share this, so we’re being used for marketing purposes. Everybody had their cameras out.”
