We all play a role in keeping our kids safe

The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre inspired a hefty tax on automatic weapons.

“The massacre inspired Congress to take action against the machine guns and short-barreled shotguns that were common in gang violence. About 5 years later, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the National Firearms Act which imposed a hefty $200 fined on such gangster weapons.”
President Kennedy’s Assassination inspired Congress to outlaw mail order sales of rifles and shotguns.

While Kennedy’s assassination in 1963 restarted the national discussion about gun control, it was not until the back-to-back assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy pushed Congress to actually pass legislation.”
That right there are examples of when something got done as a result of something happening. There was compassion for people being killed, even though they had mob ties.
My point:
In 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary School, 6 and 7 year old kids were executed. CHILDREN!! I just knew that something would happen. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Six years later and school shootings continue to happen.
Eighteen school shootings so far in 2018 and all we will do is argue our sides of the argument. Whatever your argument is, that鈥檚 fine, but I鈥檓 sure we all agree that children are dying in classrooms.
Since there doesn鈥檛 seem to be any legislation that will come, we all need to do our part. Start being nosy! Ask more questions. If you have a gut feeling about something, find out why that is. Losing a family member to gun violence is a terrible thing. Losing children in classrooms is gut wrenching.
