From Seattle to Portland, local media outlets seem hopelessly lost when covering President Donald Trump’s ICE raids targeting dangerous illegal immigrants. Is their botched reporting the product of genuine incompetence, or are they intentionally playing along with the Democrats鈥 fearmongering narrative? Either way, they鈥檙e failing the public.
The Trump administration has made it crystal clear: These raids prioritize the deportation of violent criminal illegal immigrants. Operations in Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston resulted in the arrests of hundreds of serious offenders, including drug dealers, rapists, child predators, and individuals suspected of murder or terrorism. Gang members from notorious groups like MS-13 and Tren De Agua 鈥 who鈥檝e spent years wreaking havoc in neighborhoods while being shielded by Democrats鈥 sanctuary policies 鈥 are finally being brought to justice.
But you鈥檇 never know the raids were targeting public safety threats if you relied on local media coverage in the Pacific Northwest. Instead, they push vague, emotionally charged narratives, painting ICE as villains and ignoring the real danger posed by the criminals being deported. Only in Democrat-run cities could arresting gang members, sex offenders and terrorists be spun as controversial. It鈥檚 dishonest, and it鈥檚 no wonder public trust in the press continues to plummet.

Local media pretends ICE raids are hurting the economy
One Seattle reporter that “people in Downtown Seattle” said “they鈥檙e worried for the immigrant community.” Yet, the piece quoted just one person 鈥 a law student, who claimed, “I鈥檓 generally opposed to ICE raids. I think it鈥檚 not in line with the ethos of Seattle. It will be terrible for the economy. And I鈥檓 worried about how they鈥檙e enforcing this policy before there鈥檚 time for the courts to correctly say it鈥檚 not constitutional.”
Let鈥檚 hope that law student brushes up on federal immigration law soon.
ICE is tasked with detaining and deporting criminal illegal immigrants, and many of these individuals have already gone through extensive due process. An remain in the U.S. despite receiving “final orders of removal.” They鈥檝e had their day in court and shouldn鈥檛 still be here.
The law student is right about one thing 鈥 arresting violent criminals doesn鈥檛 align with Seattle鈥檚 soft-on-crime ethos. But her assertion that these raids harm the economy is nonsense. Detaining and deporting a child sex predator doesn鈥檛 hurt economic growth 鈥 it improves community safety, which is essential for thriving businesses. In fact, ridding Seattle of violent criminals would likely bolster the economy by making it easier and safer for businesses to operate, something the city desperately needs.
Too bad the Seattle reporter didn’t feel the need to accurately frame the ICE raids. Or, worse, she didn’t understand the story she was reporting on.

Local media is freaking out kids for no reason
In Portland, ran a segment highlighting how local school districts are “preparing” for Trump鈥檚 ICE raids.
Just like in Washington, schools in Oregon are fueling baseless fears, pretending kids are the targets, and in doing so, they’re scaring children unnecessarily. But do these left-wing officials (and media mouthpieces) care about the harm they鈥檙e causing? Of course not 鈥 they鈥檇 rather push their political agenda than reassure families with facts.
“My kid, his friends, they鈥檙e all talking about it, they鈥檙e all worried about it even though they are citizens, they don鈥檛 know what their luck would be,” said a concerned mom.
Here鈥檚 some reassurance for this mom and anyone else panicking: your kids will be fine, and luck has nothing to do with it. ICE isn鈥檛 targeting children 鈥 unless, in the highly unlikely scenario, that child is a violent criminal. ICE also cannot deport people who are here legally because, well, they鈥檙e here legally. The fearmongering around these raids is completely unnecessary and does more harm to kids鈥 mental health than ICE ever could.

Why can’t local media do better on ICE raids?
Media outlets are too busy parroting left-wing talking points to report the truth: ICE raids are targeting violent public safety threats. So why won鈥檛 local outlets mention this in their coverage? Are they afraid of upsetting Democrat politicians, or do they genuinely not understand the basics of the story they鈥檙e reporting on? Either way, the public is being misled.
In cities like Seattle and Portland, residents live in an echo chamber where the media regurgitates progressive fearmongering. Pick up “The Seattle Times,” and you鈥檙e more likely to find a melodramatic Naomi Ishisaka column about the real victims of ICE raids: non-binary 9-year-old Latinx artists! Meanwhile, KING 5 will trot out their Facing Race team to interview apple pickers in eastern Washington because, to the Left, all illegal immigrants are either farmhands or housekeepers. It鈥檚 the same tired stereotypes from the Left, cloaked in faux compassion.
Here鈥檚 the truth: if the public understood what these ICE raids were actually about, they wouldn鈥檛 be outraged 鈥 even in progressive strongholds like Washington state. In fact, a recent poll shows that over half of Washington residents believe we should cooperate with Trump鈥檚 ICE raids. Unsurprisingly, Seattle is the outlier, as opposed to usual.
But nationwide, Americans overwhelmingly support the raids because they鈥檙e basing their opinions on facts. And the facts are simple: ICE is targeting dangerous criminals, not innocent families. If the media did their job and reported the truth, the outrage would evaporate. But maybe that鈥檚 why they won鈥檛.
The Left conflates immigrants for political gain
The Left refuses to acknowledge the obvious: there鈥檚 a world of difference between an illegal immigrant working hard to support their family while embracing our culture and someone who is raping, robbing, and murdering. The rest of us understand why President Trump is targeting dangerous illegal immigrants for deportation 鈥 and we鈥檙e rooting for it. Our communities are safer when criminals are deported instead of remaining our neighbors.
Democrats fear that admitting illegal immigrants can and do break the law would expose their culpability. They鈥檝e deliberately kept our borders porous while offering blanket protections to all illegal immigrants鈥攅ven those who molest children. And yes, Washington Democrats should be blamed. They have blood on their hands every time an illegal immigrant turns a neighbor into a victim.
Like the Seattle law student quoted in the Seattle report, Democrats frame ICE raids as if students are being snatched off the playground or farmers are being dragged from their fields in terror. They cast themselves as heroic defenders of the marginalized, but in reality, they鈥檙e fighting to keep murderers, rapists, child predators and drug dealers on our streets. That鈥檚 not noble. That鈥檚 dangerous. And it鈥檚 shameful that local media is too blinded by their bias to call it out.
