Rantz: WA Democrats now openly defending businesses hiring illegal immigrants

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it raided Mount Baker Roofing in Bellingham this week as part of an “ongoing criminal investigation into the unlawful employment of aliens without legal work authorization in violation of federal law.”

Now, Washington Democrats are upset.

ICE said that agents arrested 37 illegal immigrants “who had fraudulently represented their immigration status and submitted fraudulent documents and/or information to seek employment.”

In a statement, ICE referred to their work as investigating “worksite violations and/or the exploitation of workers.”  That’s something Democrats support—unless it is about illegal immigrants who are being exploited.

In a statement, the Washington State Senate Members of Color Caucus (MOCC) condemned the raid. They said when ICE conducts raids, it harms business. “Businesses also face significant challenges, including labor shortages, operational disruptions, and uncertainty in their ability to provide goods and services,” MOCC actually claimed this in the statement.

So now Washington Democrats are rooting for exploitation?

They don’t question whether or not the workers are, in fact, working illegally because they don’t mind it.

Not only are Washington Democrats okay with a business allegedly employing an illegal workforce, they’re sympathetic towards the business that could be exploiting labor. In fact, they have spent millions on resources for illegal immigrants to avoid deportation and, I suppose, continue to work illegally.

Typically, when workers are employed illegally, they’re getting taken advantage of. Washington Democrats are content with this, so long as they can use the workers as human props to hold themselves up as heroes fighting for marginalized communities. The arrests could have been for illegal immigrants who committed murders, and the Democratic response would be the same: outrage towards ICE.

Roofing jobs aren’t typically the kind of jobs that Democrats pretend Americans aren’t willing to do. So what, exactly, is the reason to defend these workers if they were illegally employed? Simply wanting cheap, immigrant labor that keeps Whatcom County residents out of work? They don’t care that Bellingham started the year with a .

If you’re wondering about the Washington Democrats’ priorities, the MOCC statement sums it up rather pathetically.
