Council member votes against AquaSox agreement
Everett City Council member Judy Tuohy voted against the agreement, citing concerns about the lack of clarity on costs and revenues. So far, the city has spent about $1.8 million on the project.
鈥淧ersonally, I have a hard time with a 鈥榡ust keep spending鈥 approach without the solid answers,鈥 Tuohy said Wednesday. “That鈥檚 why I will be voting no tonight. This is not a no forever, this is just a no until we get more information.”
The city has been planning a new stadium since 2021 when MLB’s new requirements for minor league stadiums were announced.
The proposed downtown stadium could cost between $84 million and $114 million, with an additional $18 million for property acquisition. Everett’s contribution is expected to be around $4.5 million.
