All lanes have reopened after a large crash blocked southbound I-5 just north of Mercer Street in Seattle Friday morning.

Emergency responders and WSDOT crews are still clearing debris from the wreckage. It is not yet clear what caused the crash, but troopers say multiple cars were involved.

Officials recommend using alternate routes as the backup is now more than three miles long.

CLEAR: All lanes have fully reopened on SB I-5 just north of Mercer St. in Seattle after a collision. Allow time for the backups to clear as well.
