Make your electronics decision easier with Decide.com

Apr 7, 2012, 10:58 AM | Updated: Apr 9, 2012, 8:42 am

Have you ever purchased a smartphone or tablet but didn’t
know the newest version was going to be released until a
few weeks later? Now, you can stay up-to-date with the
latest in consumer electronics with .

Decide predicts when prices will drop or whether a newer
model is going to be released in the near future. Mike
Fridgen, president and CEO of Decide.com, says you can
find information on just about any type of electronic or
appliance on their website.

“Decide.com helps you buy electronics and appliances with
no regrets,” Fridgen told “Geekwire” on 97.3 ³ÉÈËXÕ¾-FM. “So what we do
is predict when prices will drop in the future [to see] if
you can save money, or if a new version of the product
comes out soon so you can avoid buyer’s remorse.”

Decide’s business model has many similarities to Farecast
(now known as Bing Travel), especially considering most of
their core team came from Farecast. The company uses a
model lineage database to predict whether a newer version
of a particular technology is about to be released, along
with delving through news and rumor websites to find
anything that would lend credence to an accurate
prediction.

Geekwire’s Todd and John wanted to try out the service
during the show, as they’re in the market for a new camera
that takes HD video, high-resolution photos, and has the
ability to stream live video on a computer, all for around
$400. So, Fridgen did a quick search on the Decide app and
found a reasonably priced Canon Eos Rebel T3 within
minutes.

“If you’re at Best Buy staring at a wall of TV’s and are
confused about which product to buy, you can easily scan
those QR codes and instantly know ‘should I buy or should
I wait?’ All that information is on the Decide.com app,”
Fridgen said.

Not only does the service offer suggestions for when to
buy electronics, but they also do the same for appliances
as well.

“When to buy is the next frontier of transparency in
shopping, so that’s what we want to do across all
categories.”

As more people turn toward the Internet to shop, the
transparency associated with the Decide app makes it
easier for consumers to purchase the best products at the
right time.

“We help people make smarter decisions,” said Fridgen.
