A young man responsible for a crash in Renton that killed four people鈥攊ncluding three children鈥攍earned his fate Friday during an emotional sentencing hearing.
Chase Jones, 19, was sentenced to 17陆 years in prison for the deadly collision.
Prosecutors said that in March 2024, Jones was driving 112 mph when he slammed into a van, killing 13-year-old Matilda Wilcoxson, her 12-year-old sister, Eloise, their 12-year-old friend, Boyd “Buster” Brown, and 38-year-old Andrea Hudson. Two other children were severely injured.
The crash happened at the intersection of South 192nd Street and 140th Avenue South in Renton. On April 3, Jones pleaded guilty to four counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

Rivka Wilcoxson lost her daughters in the crash.
鈥淚 would like him to know that while nothing I can say can absolve him of responsibility for his actions, I do forgive him,鈥 she said.
Wilcoxson鈥檚 husband, Chase, had another recommendation for Jones鈥 punishment.
鈥淧erhaps you could order him to watch each of the recorded funerals or review the body cams of the first responders that day, or review the autopsy files and pictures,鈥 he said.
Before the judge imposed the sentence, agreed upon by the prosecution and defense as part of a plea deal, he fought back tears.
鈥淚t is my job. I鈥檓 tasked with imposing a fair and just sentence, and I’ll try my best to accomplish that.鈥
The judge said he believes Jones is remorseful for what he did.
鈥淔rom what I鈥檝e been told, Mr. Jones, you have the extraordinary potential and drive to be the best version of yourself,鈥 he said.
Jones鈥檚 attorney read a statement on his behalf in court, in which the defendant apologized and admitted he was “addicted” to speed. According to the statement, Jones used speed as a tool to deal with his problems.
鈥淚 wish there was a way to go back and change things,鈥 the statement said. 鈥淏ut I can鈥檛, and it will haunt me for the rest of my life.鈥
Authorities said Jones had been involved in previous crashes in which speed was a factor. When he gets out of prison, he will have to install a speed-limiting device on any vehicle he drives.
