Trump announces picks for surgeon general and FDA commissioner

President-elect Donald Trump announced Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as his pick for surgeon general and Dr. Martin Makary as his pick for FDA commissioner Friday.
Both Nesheiwat and Makary have appeared on “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH.

Nesheiwat is a general practitioner who serves as medical director for CityMD, a network of urgent care centers in New York and New Jersey. She’s also a contributor on Fox News.
Nesheiwat was mostly recently on “The Jason Rantz Show” in May 2022 to talk about the first case of , formerly called monkeypox, in Washington.
Makary is a Johns Hopkins surgeon and author who argued against pandemic lockdowns. During the pandemic, he routinely appeared on Fox News and wrote opinion articles questioning masks for children. He cast doubt on vaccine mandates but supported vaccines generally. He also cast doubt on whether booster shots worked, which was against federal recommendations on the vaccine.
Makary was on “The Jason Rantz Show'” in September to discuss his book “Blind Spots: When Medicine Gets It Wrong, and What It Means for Our Health.”
