If you’re looking for a Super Bowl Party where the hosts are serving Velveeta, you won’t find it at Gee Scott’s house.
“I don’t know why people just go make Velveeta their go-to,” Gee, co-host of “The Gee and Ursula Show,” told Xվ Newsradio’s Charlie Harger on “Seattle’s Morning News.” “If you have Velveeta in your house, I already know your food is unseasoned. Velveeta is doing nothing for you. If you put it in your macaroni and cheese, your macaroni and cheese ain’t good.”
Velveeta is a key ingredient in Mrs. Harger’s special Super Bowl dip.
“It is something that you would think is really not appealing,” Charlie said. “But you make some chorizo, you mix it with some beans and with some Velveeta, And you put in some spicy jalapeno chopped peppers in there … it is amazing.”
Gee’s wasn’t having it.
“The fact that Velveeta isn’t in the cheese section should tell you everything you need to know about Velveeta,” he said.
Xվ’s morning traffic reporter Chris Sullivan doesn’t seem to be much of a fan of Velveeta either. Although, he did confess that it was a regular part of his diet back in the day.
“(My wife) Holly used to make something we called ‘cheese goo’ when we were first together and poor,” he said. “It was a cream of mushroom soup, Velveeta and ground beef.”

What’s on the menu at Xվ Newsradio staff’s Super Bowl parties?
However, “cheese goo” will not be on the menu at the Sullivan’s Super Bowl party this year.
While the Hargers feast on their Velveeta dip, the Scotts will have a much more elaborate feast. Beef ribs are on the menu at Gee’s house, along with potato salad, katsu chicken with rice and fried shrimp and Louisiana Hot Links. And let’s not forget the homemade macaroni and cheese. Hold the Velveeta of course.
“I can see you eating Velveeta in your 20s,” Gee said. “But the fact that Charlie is eating Velveeta today still is crazy to me!”
Charlie also got a couple of text from listeners through the Xվ Newsradio text line.
“Pretty sure I was weaned on Velveeta,” Mark from Port Townsend wrote. “That’s what my mom always used to say.”
Tomas in West Seattle said, “Velvita is next to Spam, also not in the meat section.”
