A Tacoma father and young teenage daughter were sent to the hospital after what police believe was a drive-by shooting at their home Thursday night.

“We don’t know how many bullets entered the home,” Tacoma Police Department (TPD) Detective William Muse told ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio. “Numerous shell casings were recovered outside. Our detectives are actively working the case at this point in time.”

The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. at the home near the intersection of East 34th Street and L Street.

A family member called police after the shooting happened. The man and his daughter were hit in their lower extremities. Both are expected to be OK.

“The victims were transported to a local hospital,” Muse said. “The teenage victim was in surgery for a period of time with serious injuries. At last update, she’s in recovery.”

So far police have no motive for the shooting and no suspect information. The investigation is ongoing.

“It is incredibly disturbing,” Muse shared. “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home. When violence is inflicted on our home it takes away our sense of security.”

Anyone with information about this shooting should call TPD, 911, or Crimestoppers of Puget Sound at 800-222-TIPS.
