Seattle Police arrest ‘screaming’ man with long gun at apartment building in Bitter Lake

Seattle Police have one person in custody after being sent to the Aries at Bitter Lake Apartments in the 900-block of North 143rd Street Thursday when 911 callers reported seeing a suspicious person carrying a long gun into the apartment complex.
The calls began just after 9:30 AM Thursday, with 11 separate reports made to authorities. Officers arrived on the scene and established a large perimeter around the building while they investigated the situation.
鈥淥fficers arrived and searched the building where the man was seen. We searched every floor and did not find the suspect at that time,鈥 SPD Detective Brian Pritchard said.
The suspect was then taken into custody around 1:40 p.m., after he had agreed to exit his apartment once he finished preparing food.
“He said he would come out at exact time, 1:37 after he makes himself聽 a snack or food, and he came out. He surrendered without incident,” SPD Detective Brian Pritchard said.

Police are still unsure whether the suspect was threatening anyone, or if he was simply transporting the firearm.聽No injuries have been reported at this time, and police have not provided further details on the identity of the suspect or any potential arrests.
