A Spanaway letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint while on his route Monday, March 31, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
The gunman, who was driving a stolen Kia, took only a master key before fleeing.
“The master key that he stole accesses a very large portion of Spanaway residents’ mailboxes,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto. “It could impact hundreds or thousands of lives, depending on what is stolen.”
Fortunately, Lakewood police were able to find the stolen car and later took the suspect into custody.
Police recovered a pistol, the mask the suspect was wearing, and several keys.
“Charges will be forwarded after the vehicle search warrant is complete and the gun, keys, and other evidence can be recovered from that vehicle,” Cappetto said.
The 33-year-old male suspect was booked into Pierce County Jail.
